Business Development Officer (BDO) at Business Capital (BizCap)

The Business Development Officer is responsible for identifying and originating cash flow and asset-based transactions referred from BizCap corporate partners.  We are seeking candidates with strong networking skills who are comfortable developing new relationships and elevating existing partnerships with all types of finance providers, law firms and business consultants who can identify and refer new clients to Business Capital.  Prior sales/business development experience in Banking, Finance, and/or Restructuring is appreciated but not required.  Must possess excellent communication/presentation skills, have great attention to detail and be a team player!

About the position

The BDO will work full time out of our San Francisco office and be responsible for generating new revenue by following BizCap’s business development process.

If hired, you will be expected to:

  • Understand and effectively articulate the BizCap value proposition
  • Uncover new business opportunities by placing daily calls to our network of referral partners and/or warm leads
  • Build and manage a pipeline of qualified business opportunities, continually engaging with prospects, strategic partners, and key contacts
  • Work closely with members of the Capital Markets team in the management of highly qualified prospects and currently engaged clients
  • Identify, acquire, and develop new relationships with the following industry professionals: Commercial Bankers, Attorneys, and CPAs
  • Attend industry events, conferences, and relevant networking functions

Base salary + commission on closed deals + discretionary end of year bonus.  Salary is commensurate with experience; additional compensation is based on company and individual performance.  Full medical benefits and matching 401K plan.


  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • A minimum of 2 years of post-college/university professional experience in a business development/sales role
  • Experience in one of the following industries or a similar/related industry: Technical Solution Sales; Commercial Banking/Lending; Investment Banking; Wealth Management/Private Banking; Commercial Real Estate; Recruiting
  • Strong project/time management skills
  • Must be detail oriented and organized self-starter
  • Entrepreneurial spirit with excellent communication and presentation skills
